TO SUIT:
NISSAN FairLady 400Z RZ34 VR30DDTT 2022-

Introducing the ultimate metal catalyzer for Fairlady Z owners!

Features

  • While the stock catalytic converter has a fine ceramic mesh, our product uses a low-density metal catalyst.
  • In comparison, the stock catalytic converter has two catalysts (first catalyst 600 cells, second catalyst 400 cells) while the HKS Metal Catalyzer has one catalyst (150 cells), which significantly reduces exhaust resistance.
  • The catalyst part is a three-way catalyst newly developed for the RZ34, and by optimizing the metal ratio and designing it for exhaust efficiency achieving both purification performance and low exhaust pressure and has obtained an exhaust gas certificate from official Japanese regulation.
  • A thermo seal and a specially designed heat shield are included as a measure against heat damage.
  • This product is buffed to a mirror finish and TIG welded, also focusing on the appearance.

Performance comparison (HKS Metal Catalyzer only)

By changing to the HKS Metal Catalyzer, exhaust resistance is reduced, and even with a vehicle equipped with a stock muffler, you can expect a power increase of around 3500 to 5000 rpm. In-house testing showed that the maximum change from the stock product was:
 Power: 10.8(14.6)/4700 (kW/(PS)rpm)
 Torque: 22(2.2)4700 (Nm(kgf・m)/rpm)

*When controlled by the stock ECU, the maximum output value is suppressed by the control, so there is no change in the peak value.

Performance Comparison (HKS Catalyzer + HKS Super Turbo Muffler)

By installing the HKS Metal Catalyzer and HKS STM, exhaust resistance at mid- to high-speed revolutions is greatly reduced, and power can be expected to increase at around 3300 to 5700 rpm. In-house testing showed the maximum change from the stock was:
 Power: 14.3(19.4)/5000 (kW/(PS)rpm)
 Torque: 26.1(2.6)4700 (Nm(kgf・m)/rpm)

Performance Comparison (HKS Catalyzer + HKS Super Turbo Muffler + HKS Power Editor)

By installing the HKS Power Editor in addition to the HKS Metal Catalyzer and HKS Super Turbo Muffler, you can experience the true value of boost up tuning.
You can expect a wide range of power up from about 2200 to 5700 rpm, and in our internal tests, the maximum change from the stock was

 Power: 33.3(45.2)/4700 (kW/(PS)rpm)

Performance comparison

In flow bench tests, the HKS catalytic converter (hereafter referred to as HKS Metal Catalyzer) was able to reduce exhaust resistance by approximately 80% compared to the stock catalytic converter.

Point

~Flange (turbocharger connection part)~
The stock catalytic converter flange has a straight structure with an inner diameter of 62.5mm and is MIG welded on the inside.
HKS has adopted a tapered shape with an inner diameter of 66mm instead of the straight structure with an inner diameter of 62.5mm, and by changing to TIG welding on the outside, we have reduced exhaust resistance.

~Catalyst~
Newly designed HKS catalyst has 150 cell specification. We have been able to improve purification performance while reducing exhaust resistance.

Performance comparison

By installing an HKS Metal Catalyzer, the increase in secondary exhaust pressure can be reduced even when engine speed increases.
The lower the exhaust pressure is, the less load there is for the same output, allowing for more margin.
Secondary exhaust pressure can be achieved by replacing only the HKS Metal Catalyzer. Up to 32% lower than stock.
By replacing HKS Metal Catalyzer along with HKS STM. Up to 74% reduction compared to stock.

*Secondary exhaust pressure: Exhaust pressure from downstream of the turbocharger to upstream of the first catalyst.
*Pressures in the table are expressed in absolute pressure.

Sound comparison

By installing the HKS Metal Catalyzer, the sound coming from the muffler will also change.
Compared to the stock, the mid-to-high range, which is considered comfortable above 250Hz, has been tuned, producing a sportier sound that is more like a V6 engine.

*Replacing the catalytic converter will increase nearby exhaust noise. When combined with our muffler, it will comply with safety & legal standards, so you can use it with peace of mind.
